Like all good things, the Lord desires for us to experience love in abundance. We are meant to love and be loved deeply, and we can do that safely because of God. He is love and therefore the source of our feelings of love and the foundations of our loving action can and should come from him. This means we do have the capacity to love unconditionally and rebuild relationships when feelings are hurt.
I am praying that the Lord will increase my love for the people in my life I care about the most because it can be hard. The people we love have the most capacity to hurt us, and it can be difficult to overcome that pain and love freely and openly. So, I am trusting God to step in.
As 1 Thessalonians 3:11-13 says, “Now may our God and Father himself, and our Lord Jesus, direct our way to you, and may the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all, as we do for you, so that he may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints.” God will allow our love to abound when we ask him and seek him faithfully.
Love is such a gift, and it shows others who Christ is when we love them well. Seek the Lord today and ask him to increase your love. Nothing is more fulfilling or worthwhile.
